Thea Shoemaker is a fitness specialist with  13 years of  practical experience. 

She caries a diploma in fitness and nutrition, several certifications and continued education in all areas of health and fitness.  She is well versed in fitness program design, business management and fitness testing for all age groups.

Key Skills

Weight and resistance training, flexibility and cardiovascular conditioning, weight management, program design and implementation, post rehabilitation., staff training and development. Exercise for older adults. Training programs for school athletics.

Personal Fitness Training

  • Provides at-home personal fitness training to individuals and couples in Ventura County.

  • Performs health screens and develops personalized fitness programs.

Beach Workout – Land Conditioning for surfers

  • Developed and instructs a fitness training course on the beach

  • Course includes cardiovascular, strength, and flexibility training.

Fitness Coordinator (YMCA of Ventura, 1999-2000)

  • Supervise and train fitness staff of 8, including Personal Fitness Trainers and Fitness Counselors, who support member base of 2400.

  • Responsible for the application of principles of health and fitness, basic exercise guidelines, and appropriate member interaction.

  • Reviews and expands training protocols.

Get Real Instructor (YMCA of Ventura, 1998-2000)

  • Teaches 10-week course on activity, nutrition and self-empowerment.

  • Graduated 11 members to date.  30 registered for Spring semester.

Personal Fitness Trainer (YMCA of Ventura, 1998-present)

  • Performs health screens and develops personalized fitness programs for members.

  • Coaches, mentors and implements fitness programs with weekly client base of 13.

Floor Trainer (Channel Is. Athletic Club of Port Hueneme, 1996-1997)

  • Instructed, supervised and reinforced basic exercise guidelines to members.

  • Performed member exercise orientations, facilitated member use of equipment, interacted and coached members on the floor.

Mail Carrier (US Postal Service of Frazier Park, 1988-1998)

  • Responsible for sorting and delivering mail in rural area.

  • 300 houses served
